Polyurethane in the building sector
Polyurethane foam is widely used in the construction industry. More and more builders are choosing polyurethane because it features plenty of advantages and benefits unmatched by any other material. It is lightweight and strong at the same time, easy to handle and to install, very durable and versatile and has excellent mechanical properties as well as very low thermal conductivity, which means that it needs minimum thickness to save a high amount of energy.
Sandwich panels: the best choice for building
Sandwich panels in their many forms are the most common application of polyurethanes in the construction sector, as they are used to clad the roof, ceilings and walls of buildings. They are typically made of a core of thermoinsulating material and two external thin facings. Internally, sandwich panels can have different cores such as polyurethane foam (PUR/PIR), rockwool, EPS, mineral wool, glass fiber or phenolic foam. The two external facings can also be made of different materials such as metal sheet, paper, wood.
